Russian forces attacked Ukraine with swarm drones and cruise missiles on Tuesday with “two waves of shelling” and a swarm of drones.

Cruise missiles were fired from the Black Sea along with air based missiles on “Ukrainian cities and sleeping civilians.”

The US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said that Russia’s Victory Day parade was marked with missiles and drone attacks.

Brink said, “Ukraine, Europe, and the United States commemorated victory over tyranny yesterday.

“Russia marks May 9 with more missiles and drones launched toward Ukrainian cities and sleeping civilians.”

Russia’s defence ministry said, “Overnight, Russia’s armed forces launched a concentrated strike using high-precision, long-range sea and air-based weapons aimed against enemy barracks and ammunition depots.

“As a result of the strikes, the advance of reserves was stopped, as was the delivery of ammunition to the combat zone.”

Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny said, “In total, during the two waves of shelling of Ukraine on the night of May 9, 2023, the Russian invaders launched 25 Kalibr and X-101/X-555 cruise missiles. Some 23 of them were destroyed by air defense of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.”

Eight Kalibr cruise missiles were fired from the Black Sea for eastern regions in Ukraine which were all destroyed by air defence systems.

He added, “The forces and means of air defense of the Center air command destroyed 14 cruise missiles, and another one – in the area of responsibility of the Pivden air command. In total, 15 cruise missiles X-101/X-555 were destroyed.”
