Is it an electric SUV, a van, or both? The EX30 is Volvo’s smallest, most affordable EV, and now it’s available as a mini electric van.

Meet the Volvo EX30 Cargo

At just 4,233 mm (166.7″) long, the EX30 is a compact electric SUV, a bit smaller than the Kia Niro and Hyundai Kona EV.

That didn’t stop Volvo from turning it into an all-electric business van. Volvo Car UK unveiled the EX30 Cargo on Wednesday, its first commercial vehicle.

Based on the standard model, Volvo stripped the rear seats and replaced them with a flat floor for added cargo space. The EX30 Cargo offers a max payload of 859 lbs (390 kg) and a load capacity of 1,000 liters.

Other modifications include a specifically designed payload bulkhead that separates the driver from the cargo area, and updated rear side panels and doors to make loading and unloading easier.

The Volvo EX30 Cargo is designed for business and fleet use, starting at £36,010 ($48,000) on the road. It’s available in two variants: a standard EX30 Cargo and the EX30 Cross Country Cargo, which offers added ground clearance.

The electric van offers a WLTP electric driving range of up to 295 km (183 miles). The extended-range version is available with 150 hp or 272 hp powertrains, while the standard-range variant is only offered with a 272 hp powertrain.

Volvo’s electric van is also available with all-wheel drive, delivering a combined 428 hp. The AWD version is available in two trims: Core and Plus, with the Cross Country Plus model also available.

The Volvo EX30 Cargo was created through a second-stage conversion by Volvo Car UK and is sold exclusively through Volvo fleet sales channels.

After Volvo announced it’s pulling the EX30 from its US lineup after the 2026 model year, don’t expect the electric van to arrive in the US anytime soon.
