The EX30 is Volvo’s most affordable electric vehicle, but a new entry-level trim is expected to bring the price down considerably.
Volvo adds more affordable entry-level EX30 trim
Volvo is adding several exciting new EX30 trims for the 2027 model year, including a Black Edition and a new entry-level model.
The entry-level EX30 uses a more efficient single-motor that delivers 147 horsepower (110 kW), a considerable difference from the 268 horsepower (200 kW) in the current Single Motor model.
Powered by the same 51 kWh battery, the new entry-level trim has a WLTP range of up to 211 miles (339 km). If you’re looking for a little bit more, you can upgrade to the larger 69 kWh battery for up to 296 miles (476 km) WLTP range.
Volvo also introduced the EX30 Black Edition with a stealthy blacked-out interior, and a new Havest interior with “a warm light-toned aesthetic inspired by Scandinavian summer evenings.”
For all current EX30 owners, Volvo is rolling out Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality through an over-the-air (OTA) software update. The function enables you to use the vehicle’s battery as a mobile power device to supply energy to a campsite, workstation, laptop, and other electrical devices.
A new UX will also roll out via an OTA update this summer with an improved infotainment system. Volvo said the new UX is easier to use, thanks to a customizable content bar. It will also be available to new and existing EX30 drivers.

Volvo didn’t announce prices for the new entry-level EX30, but it is expected to start at close to €30,000 ($35,500). The current EX30 Single Motor starts at around €36,000-€38,000 ($42,500-$44,900) in Europe.
Will the more affordable EX30 be available in the US? Volvo didn’t say, but if it does, it could bring the EX30’s starting price close to $35,000. The 2026 Volvo EX30 Single Motor starts at $38,950 and has an EPA-estimated range of 261 miles.
