Robotaxi network and vehicle developer Zoox has shared some more key milestones as we sit nearly four months into its “year of growth.” That includes massive expansions to its existing network, added features for riders, and the deployment of Zoox’s purpose-built robotaxis in two new US cities.
March has already been an exciting month for Zoox news, and it’s clearly not done yet. After surpassing one million fully autonomous miles in late 2025, following public rides in Las Vegas and an “Explorer Program” in San Francisco, the Amazon-backed robotaxi developer is gaining momentum in 2026.
On March 9, Zoox announced plans to deploy its robotaxi test fleet to two additional cities – Dallas and Phoenix. Those two areas joined a list of other US cities already being mapped and tested for potential autonomous rides, including Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle, and Washington, DC.
Let’s not forget news days later, that Uber partnered with Zoox to include its truly driverless (no steering wheel or pedals) robotaxis on its rideshare network in Las Vegas this year, followed by Los Angeles in 2027.
Today, Zoox shared that it is now approaching nearly two million autonomous miles traveled, with notable expansions in the works, including the deployment of its purpose-built robotaxis in two new cities where testing is already underway – Austin, Texas, and Miami, Florida.
Zoox joins new cities in largest service expansion yet
The robotaxi network shared details of what it described as its “biggest milestone to date”: expanding service across multiple markets and introducing new product and service features. Zoox CEO, Aicha Evans, kicked things off:
This expansion marks a significant step forward for Zoox and is driven by the insights from our early deployments. This is our year of growth. We are actively implementing learnings to confidently and safely scale our robotaxi service across the country and bring our differentiated experience to even more riders.
Zoox’s latest growth includes expanding the availability of its robotaxis services in its two existing cities, Las Vegas and the San Francisco Bay Area. In Sin City, the public will soon gain access to destinations along the Strip. Zoox said it has more than doubled the number of ride locations in Las Vegas, including the Convention Center and most major hotels.
For events at T-Mobile Arena and the Sphere, Zoox is also beginning limited service, beginning with employees before opening to the public later in the spring. The company is also still working on establishing robotaxi rides to and from Harry Reid Airport (LAS).
To the West, Zoox is quadrupling the availability in one of its other cities, San Francisco. While the service is not fully public yet, members of the Explorers Program will soon be able to travel across the eastern half of the city, including the Marina, North Beach, Chinatown, Pacific Heights, and along the Embarcadero.
Additionally, two test cities will officially be the next two areas to see Zoox’s unique robotaxi’s roll out before offering public rides. Zoox explained that the initial deployment will operate within a tiny portion of both cities (Austin and Miami). Per usual, rides will first become available to Zoox employees, their families, and friends.
The network will eventually expand the operating areas as testing continues. Zoox says it will open a rider waitlist in Austin soon and will offer Explorers access to the early-rides program in both cities later this year. Zoox shared that to date, over 500,000 people have signed up for its waitlist.
