Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party has achieved a significant victory in a North Lincolnshire by-election, gaining momentum ahead of the local elections in May.

The party won its first seat on North Lincolnshire Council by securing the Brumby ward with 52.8% of the vote.

Support for the Labour Party fell sharply by more than 30 points to 27.9%, while the Conservative Party’s share dropped significantly to 7.5%. The Green Party of England and Wales received 9.1%, and the Liberal Democrats trailed with just 3.2%.

In another North Lincolnshire contest, the Conservatives retained the Axholme Central ward with 49.2% of the vote, despite a notable drop in their share.

Reform came in second with 35.5%, while Labour’s support dwindled to just 5.5%, placing them behind the Greens.

In a separate election, the Conservatives, led by Kemi Badenoch, successfully held the Halstead, Knockholt, and Badgers Mount ward on Sevenoaks District Council with 44.2% of the vote, although they experienced a 20-point decline in their vote share. Reform UK again secured second place with 29.8%, surpassing the Liberal Democrats.

Additionally, Reform UK gained a seat in the Vale of White Horse, winning the Stanford area from the Liberal Democrats with 45.9% of the vote, while Ed Davey’s Liberal Democrats fell to 27.2%. Reform UK finished in third place with 18%.

These election results indicate a fragmented political landscape, with both Labour and the Conservatives losing voter support in key regions, while Reform continues to grow as a significant challenger. With thousands of council seats up for grabs in May, these by-election outcomes will be closely monitored as early indicators of potential voter trends in the upcoming local elections.
